Colombia approves ECOPETROL´s 20%
sale
|
|
|
|
|
|
Colombia's President
Alvaro Uribe approved a law last January 02 allowing the
sale of 20 percent interest in the state-run petroleum
firm of Colombia, Ecopetrol. The government will retain
the remaining 80 percent of the firm's shares. Scheduled
to be sold in three rounds, the revenue from the shares
will go toward Ecopetrol's proposed $2.5 billion
improvement plan. Current and former Ecopetrol workers,
Colombian citizens and local governments, pension funds
and cooperatives will be able to purchase shares in the
first two rounds. Institutional investors will have a
chance in the third round, though they will be limited
to buying no more than three percent. |

More technology firms arrive in Colombia |
|
|
|
|
|
Technology firms from
Chile will make a strong entry in the Colombian
market in 2007, according to corporate executives
interviewed by ‘El Mercurio’ newspaper. Companies
such as Sonda, Quintec, Adexus and Coasin, among
others, are in the verge of growing business in
Colombia. Technology firms from Peru, such as ASIS
Technology Partners, are also setting up operations
in the country.
