Colombia postpones decision of technology format for digital TV

The Colombian National TV Commission said on July that it will postpone the decision on technology format for Digital TV for the country. The decision will probably be taken by the beginning of 2008 after sufficient debate and study on the benefits and disadvantages of the available formats. The CNTV and the Colombian government are to chose from Japan's ISDB standard or rival U.S. and European technologies. By mid 2006, Brazil's government chose Japan's ISDB standard over rival U.S. and European technologies, ending more than a decade of public debate. It said the system was more stable, offered more service to customers and could be modernized and adapted more easily. Brazil's media also favored the Japanese standard.
